Take Care of Yourself this December
During the holiday season, family members and friends are coming into town. With so many loved ones in town, it can get easy to focus on them and neglect yourself. Self-care can be overlooked during the holidays, especially the December holidays when there’s an emphasis on joy and togetherness. In this week’s Overlook at Franklin Square Blog, we’ve got a short list of tips for you on how you can take care of yourself this December.
With all the gift giving that goes on during the holidays, most of our money is spent on a gift that will make our friends and family happy. Being generous is a great practice, but we recommend saving some of your money to treat yourself! It doesn’t have to be a big purchase. Just allot yourself some money so you can purchase your favorite dessert, an article of clothing you’ve been wanting to buy, or even a massage! Taking care of yourself means allowing yourself to get something nice.
Feeling down during the colder months is more common than you might think. Whether it’s seasonal or situational, getting active can help alleviate some of those winter blues. Exercising not only can help you get into or stay in shape, but it also has an overall effect on your emotional health as well as the more immediate effect of an increase in endorphins post-workout. If you haven’t worked out in a while, take it slow and build up to doing more as the weeks go by.
This tip may seem a little odd during December, particularly since the month is usually capped off with a bountiful feast! Before that day actually comes, we suggest taking it easy on your body by eating your sweets and candies sparingly. Get your dose of vegetables and fruits with healthy eating before the day of indulgence arrives.
